Forgery case slammed against Sameer Wankhede over bar licence

Arts & EntertainmentForgery case slammed against Sameer Wankhede over bar licence

A case of forgery was made against Narcotics Control Bureau’s former Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede over bar licence.

Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik last year had alleged that Sameer Wankhede owned a permit room and bar at Vashi in Navi Mumbai, the licence for which was obtained in 1997 when he was a minor.  District Collector Rajesh Narvekar had recently cancelled the licence, claiming it was obtained by misrepresentation and fraud.

The State Excise department had subsequently issued a notice to Mr. Wankhede in connection with the bar licence obtained by him.

Following his response and examination of the matter, the district collector recently concluded that Mr. Wankhede had obtained the licence on October 27, 1997, when he was less than 18 years old, as against the permissible age of 21, an official earlier said.

Thane police have registered an FIR against Narcotics Control Bureau’s former Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede for alleged forgery in connection with a licence which he had procured for a bar and hotel owned by him in Navi Mumbai, an official said on Sunday.

An FIR was registered against Mr. Wankhede on Saturday night at Kopri Police Station here for the offence of forgery following a complaint by state Excise officials, Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod said.

Mr. Malik had also said that despite being in a government job, Mr. Wankhede held a licence to operate the permit room which was against service rules. Mr. Wankhede had then denied the minister’s claims.

Sameer Wankhede and Aryan Khan’s Case

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan was arrested on October 3 in connection with the Mumbai cruise drugs case. The Bombay High Court granted him bail on October 28 with no evidence of a drug connection.

Later, Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik claimed that Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede was part of a plot to “kidnap” Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Ever since the probe began, Malik has been raising suspicions over the conduct of the NCB officials terming the cruise drugs raid as “fake”. He has also levelled a series of allegations against Wankhede.

Malik claimed that Mohit Bharatiya, former president of Mumbai BJP’s youth wing, was the “mastermind” of the plot to kidnap Aryan for ransom.

He claimed Wankhede had met Bharatiya at a ‘kabarastan’ (graveyard) in suburban Oshiwara. “But, because of his (Wankhede’s) good luck, we couldn’t get the footage since police’s CCTV was not functioning. Hence, out of fear, Wankhede had lodged a false complaint that he was being stalked,” Malik said.

“The alleged cruise rave party was a plot to kidnap Aryan Khan for ransom, of which Mohit Bharatiya was the mastermind,” the minister alleged. He also accused Wankhede of being involved in the plot and said that Bharatiya was a member of his “private army”.

Malik accused Wankhede of creating fear among drug consumers while protecting peddlers and traffickers. He claimed the trap to kidnap Aryan Khan was laid through Rishabh Sachdeva, the brother-in-law of Bharatiya.

” ₹25 crore were sought, and the deal was finalised at ₹18 crore… ₹50 lakh were given. The deal got spoilt because the selfie of K P Gosavi (NCB’s witness in the cruise drugs case) with Aryan, after his arrest, became viral,” he claimed.

Now, once again, Wankhede is in fresh boiling water with new allegations made against him over the bar licence and Sameer Wankhede may be wishing he had never heard of Aryan Khan because he seems to be jumping from the fire to the frying pan with strings of allegations made against him this past year.
