Christians in Uttar Pradesh react sharply to constant attacks on them

Christians have come to the streets in Uttar Pradesh upset about constant communal attacks on them saying they are being falsely implicated.

Finally out of fury and frustration, Christians in Uttar Pradesh came to the streets due to constant false allegations, attacks, and arrests made against them.  This is the State where Christians have been heavily attacked over the years

When News Bucket questions upset Christians on the streets, one of them said to the Press, “Can you just give money to anyone and make them convert to any other religion?

News Bucket asked one of the Christian men in the crowd, “What is the difficulty you were facing that made you come to the streets?”

The man answered, “Ji, every Sunday, we have prayers and worship and when that happens, a mob of people descend on the Sunday service and falsely accuse us of converting Hindus.

When the news reporter asked another man in the crowd, “These people say that you helped the people during the corona pandemic and gave them food in order to convert them to Christianity, what do you have to say about it?”

The man replied smiling, “Yes, we did help everyone of all religions during corona, and if we are accused that we had an agenda for doing this, we will not stop helping people.  If the authorities put us in jail for this, we still will never stop assisting anyone.  We believe in the same philosophy as Tulsidas. We help out of the love in our hearts, but they who do not understand always think that we have an agenda, but we have no agenda.  We look at people as humans, not at their religion at all.”

He added, “These are complete lies about us having an agenda, but it is completely true that we helped people during the COVID pandemic and there was nothing wrong about it. But the gossip about us converting Hindus during that time are absolute lies.”

When the news reporter asked him if he felt this was propaganda against the Christians, he nodded his head and said, “Yes, it is a propoganda, there is a plan against Christians, Muslims, and Communists to suppress them or throw them out of India, but it could never materialize, so now they are trying something new.

He said emphatically, “While we talk about love which is our focus, they stoke up hate speeches.  We love our nation and its people and have no thoughts of dividing anyone and no one can separate us from loving the nation and its people.”

Another man was asked by the News Bucket reporter, “Who is attacking you.”

While initially, the man was reticent to say who was attacking them, he later said their main attackers were Hindus from the RSS, from the Shiv Sena, and the Hindu Mahasabha.

The reporter questioned another man, “How do you know they are from the RSS, the Shiv Sena, and the Hindu Mahasabha?”

The man answered, “The FIR reveals who they are as it was filed by them, stating they are from the RSS, Shiv Sena, and the Hindu Mahasabha, you can take a copy of the FIR and you will see it was filed by them.”

The man went on to say, “I want to ask the people in high positions, can you give anyone money and immediately, they will change their religion?   While you question us about helping others in the corona pandemic and giving them rations, does it mean that people will change their religion for Rs. 5000?  Does this mean the Hindu religion is so cheap that people will instantly convert for money?”  Visibly upset, he said, “This is completely ridiculous.  By saying this, these people are actually mocking their own religion by making it look so fragile and making a fool of themselves.”

The man also said, “We never complain about who is converting to another religion. We don’t have much money or big businesses that we can afford to buy people to Christianity. These narratives created against us are lies.  I cannot understand how people can even believe this.  People who have common sense will never accept this narrative as being true.

For the last few years, whenever Christians gather in church or during a prayer meeting, as is the old customary practice of Christians, a mob of extremist Hindus attacks their meetings claiming that they are forcefully converting Hindus. In most instances, they were simply meeting for prayer, a function, celebration, or a birthday party.

While Christians have been arrested, attacked, persecuted, and harassed in different ways, churches vandalized, and some have even been killed, there is no proof of “forced conversion” with allegations made by fanatical Hindus that Christians give money to Hindus and others to convert, which Christians firmly renounce.

Earlier, the Supreme Court asked the Union Home Ministry to get verification reports from eight states on the alleged attacks on Christians.  According to a report by Live Law, the Supreme Court gave SC gave the Ministry of Home Affairs two months to submit the report on the attack from these eight states, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Karnataka, and Jharkhand on steps taken on alleged attacks on Christians.

There have been 700  instances of violence against Christians between 2021-2022.  In the first seven months of the year 2022, over 300 attacks against Christians were reported across the country.  Ironically, after these attacks, the police arrest the Christians instead of the attackers!
