Supreme Court’s advice to form Committee is farmers’ moral victory: AIKSCC

EconomySupreme Court's advice to form Committee is farmers' moral victory: AIKSCC

Farmers’ organization says that the Prime Minister is lying to the country that these laws will not touch the land of farmers and the minimum support price (MSP) will continue.

New Delhi: The All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) has said that the committee proposed by the Supreme Court will benefit the farmers only after the repeal of the Agrarian Reform Act and the court’s advice is a moral victory for the farmers.

The AIKSCC, in response to a court hearing on the matter, said that the Delhi agitation would continue till the abolition of the three farm laws and the Electricity Act – 2020. The farmers have always made their point of view clear.

The farmers’ organization said that the Prime Minister is lying to the country that the laws will not touch the farmers’ land and the minimum support price (MSP) will continue – the government is there to divert public attention. Government committees promoted milk production to promote private companies.

The AIKSCC has said that advising the government through the court is a moral victory for farmers. Farmers are always ready to speak. But even if a committee is formed, the Delhi movement will continue till the three farm laws and the Electricity Act are abolished.

‘The formation of the committee will be beneficial only if the law is first withdrawn,’ AIKSCC added. The AIKSCC further said that the Prime Minister is playing the old tune of being the farmers misled by the opposition. The truth is, rather, that they themselves are misleading the country.

The farmers’ committee said that the Prime Minister has reiterated his old interpretation that the farmer’s land will not go away; the government will continue to buy on the MSP; the laws are creating opportunities for the farmers, while all their actions prove their claims wrong.

Prime Minister makes false claims

The AIKSCC said that the Prime Minister claimed that milk production was promoted by the non-government private sector, while government-backed cooperatives handle the milk sector and later the same private companies increase the price of milk.

‘Two days ago he asked industrialists to invest in farming. His minister says that the government has allocated one lakh crore rupees to promote private investment. The government document – Putting Farmers First – states that the law will open up agricultural business opportunities. With these laws, the Modi government is not benefiting farmers but foreign companies and corporates’, AIKSCC added.

The working group of AIKSCC has decided to pay tribute to the 30 fighters of Punjab and Haryana who lost their lives in this movement of each village from 11 AM to 1 PM on 20 December.

Farmers’ participation in Indus and Tekri, Shahjahanpur, and Palol is increasing. A large number of people are expected to visit Ghazipur. One thousand people of Ekta Parishad, Maharashtra will reach Palol today and one hundred people from Gujarat will reach Shahjahanpur.
