Patna: In the third and final phase of polling in Bihar, 7.69 percent of the votes have been cast till the first two hours i.e. 9:00 AM. Chief Electoral Officer said that an estimated 34.82 percent of the total electorate exercised their franchise till 1:00 PM in the third and final phase of Bihar assembly elections in 78 constituencies where polling was in progress.
Maximum polling of 45.2 percent was recorded in Aurai constituency while minimum polling of 24 percent was recorded in Motihari seat, sources added. As per district wise figures made available by officials, the highest polling was recorded in Muzaffarpur district where 40.15 percent of the electorate exercised their franchise followed by 37.99 percent in Vaishali district.
Minimum polling was recorded in the Darbhanga district where 26.58 percent of the electorate exercised their franchise. An estimated 35.82 percent polling was recorded in Lok Sabha by-elections in Valmiki Nagar parliamentary seat.
Polling in four constituencies Valmiki Nagar, Ramnagar, Simri Bakhtiarpur, and Mahisi will end at 4:00 PM due to security reasons, while in other constituencies polling will continue till 6:00 PM.
In West Champaran district, 35.81 percent polling was recorded, in East Champaran district, it was 34.62, in Sitamarhi it was 31.51, in Madhubani 34.5 9 percent electorate exercised their franchise.
Similarly, 35.73 percent electorate exercised their franchise in Supaul, 32.79 in Araria, 34.45 in Kishanganj, 37.2 3 in Purnea, 35.34 in Katihar, and 34.16 percent in Samastipur district.
Polling at an early phase
According to the State Election Office, polling began in the last phase at 7:00 AM in 78 assembly constituencies in fifteen districts. 7.69 percent of voters exercised their franchise till the first two hours or nine o’clock. Araria district recorded the highest turnout of 10.67 percent during this period, while Katihar district recorded the lowest 5.36 percent. At the same time, for the by-election of Valmikinagar parliamentary seat, 7.73 percent voting has been done till this time.
7.73 percent in West Champaran district, 9.18 in East Champaran, 8.78 in Sitamarhi, 6.31 in Madhubani, 10.11 in Supaul, 10.67 in Araria, 10.67 in Krishaganj, 6.83 in Kishanganj, 6.44 in Purnia, 5.36 in Katihar, 5.65 in Madhepura, 9.26 in Saharsa, Darbhanga. 6.09, 7.25 percent in Muzaffarpur, 10.28 in Vaishali, and 7.32 percent of votes in Samastipur have exercised their franchise.
