He once again reached out to Indian Muslims. Saudi scholar, Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim al-Issa, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, is visiting India for a series of engagements, famed for his development work. The two big stalwarts, Ajit Doval and Mohammad bin Abdulkarim al-Issa are to hold the center stage.
On the same page, last year, on 30th July 2022, Ajit Doval attended an interfaith harmony meeting with Sufi clerics in New Delhi. He stressed the importance of active participation and voicing concerns regarding communal tensions in India. He highlighted the need for Indians to come together, organize, and speak out against elements that are causing division and hindering the progress of the country.
The conference took place at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi. By urging people to engage in proactive measures and raise their voices, Ajit Doval aimed to foster unity, promote social harmony, and encourage citizens to play an active role in addressing the communal tensions prevalent in the country.
The Motive of the Upcoming Mega Meeting
Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim al-Issa, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, is visiting India for a series of engagements. He is expected to be in India on his visit between July 10-15 and will have a one-on-one meeting with India’s National Security Advisor, Shri Ajit Doval, on the evening of his arrival in New Delhi.
Addressing a gathering at the B. S. Abdur Rahman Auditorium: On July 11th, Dr. al-Issa will deliver a speech at the India Islamic Cultural Centre in Lodhi Road. The event is organized by the Khusro Foundation and will be attended by prominent religious and community leaders, academics, and media personnel. Shri Ajit Doval is also expected to address the gathering.
Given Dr. al-Issa’s background as the former Minister of Justice of Saudi Arabia and the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, it is anticipated that he will speak on various subjects including moderate Islam, dialogue between civilizations, religious tolerance, intercultural communication, non-violence, and religious pluralism.
Dr. al-Issa is expected to meet with India’s Minister for External Affairs, Dr. S Jaishankar, and the Minister for Minority Affairs, Smt. Smriti Z Irani. There is a possibility that he may also have a meeting with the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
Interactions with faith leaders and cultural institutions: During his visit, Dr. al-Issa will interact with a group of distinguished faith leaders at the Vivekanand International Foundation. He will also meet with the President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Additionally, there are indications that he may visit the Akshardham Temple and meet with other prominent personalities.
Dr. al-Issa will pay his respects at the National Police Memorial in Chanakyapuri to honor the martyrs. He will also visit the historic Jama Masjid in Delhi to participate in Friday Prayers. Furthermore, he is scheduled to visit Agra.
By stressing the principles of true Islam and its message of tolerance, Dr. Al-Issa and the MWL seek to encourage dialogue and cooperation between different religious and cultural groups in India. Through these efforts, they aim to contribute to the overall progress, unity, and well-being of the country.
Why is the Meeting so Important?
Ajit Kumar Doval is legendary in himself, thus this meeting of two powerful men is causing great expectations. Ajit Doval is currently serving as the National Security Advisor (NSA) to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India. He has a distinguished career as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Kerala cadre and has held various significant positions and won several awards.
Prior to his current role as NSA, Doval served as the director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) from 2004 to 2005. Before that, he spent a decade as the head of the IB’s operation wing. His experience also includes serving as an undercover spy for the IB in Pakistan for one year, followed by six years as an officer in the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan. He has had an extensive career as an intelligence officer and played a crucial role in gathering intelligence and conducting operations.
Doval has been associated with several successful operations throughout his career. Some notable ones include Operation Black Thunder in 1988, the rescue of 46 Indian nationals in Iraq, operations against Nagaland militants in 2015 in coordination with the Indian Army, the surgical strike on Pakistan in 2016, and operations targeting the terror organization Popular Front of India (PFI), among many others.
Before his appointment as NSA, Doval was the founder and director of the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), a think tank with a right-of-center leaning. The VIF was established in December 2009 and has been involved in policy research and analysis on various national and international issues.
