Rahul Gandhi: Bharat Jodo Yatra is ‘most beautiful experience of my life, its just the beginning”

IndiaRahul Gandhi: Bharat Jodo Yatra is 'most beautiful experience of my life, its just the beginning"

Bharat Jodo Yatra has been the ‘most beautiful experience of my life, says Rahul Gandhi. This is not the end but the beginning and a “first step” he said of the yatra.

Rahul Gandhi interacted with the media after the foot march ended with the hoisting of the tricolor at the Lal Chowk in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir, the Congress chief said that he got to learn and understand a lot during the over 4,000-km journey. The Yatra went from south to north but it has had a countrywide effect, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Sunday and asserted that the march gave an alternative vision to the country.

This is not the end but the beginning and a “first step”, Gandhi said of the yatra.

Walking with Rahul Gandhi, Mehbooba Mufti, former CM of, the Peoples Democratic Party said”Rahul Gandhi’s yatra comes like a breath of fresh air in Kashmir. It is the first time since 2019 that Kashmiris have come out of their homes in such massive numbers. It was a great experience to walk with him.”

Mehbooba Mufti also said, “Despite these facts, BJP claims to have resolved the Kashmir issue by the unconstitutional abrogation of Article 370. Not only have they failed to address the issue but also gifted 2000 sq km of our territory to China.”

Local residents were highly appreciative of the Yatris, and Congress MP Jairam Ramesh experienced many local Kashmiris rushing up to shake his hand.

The Congress was upset with the lack of security for Rahul Gandhi and said, “Who is giving orders for a reduction in security of Rahul Gandhi? It is no coincidence that after the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, there was a breach in their security. The security provided to Rahul Gandhi proved to be a failure! The police had to take them away in their car.”

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had met Rahul Gandhi said, “The talking heads are largely silent and the channels don’t really want to talk about it but you don’t have to be visually challenged to see the #BharatJodaYatra has got a very good response from Kashmiris. Young & old, men & women, have been lining the road & marching for unity.
Omar Abdullah”
He also said, “The most glaring silence has been from those “Kashmir experts” who waste no opportunity to paint Kashmiris as anti-national, communal, intolerant. The public participation flies in the face of this propaganda & that explains the total radio silence.”

Rahul Gandhi said, “I met lakhs of people and talked to them. I do not have words to make you understand. The aim of the yatra was to unite India, it was against the hate and violence being spread across the country. We have had a tremendous response. In fact, no one expected to get such a love-filled response,” Rahul Gandhi said.  He also said, “We got to see the resilience of the people of India, their strength, directly,” he added.

The foot march traversed through 12 states and two Union territories and covered 4,080 km.

Rahul Gandhi reportedly addressed as many as 12 public meetings, over 100 corner meetings, and 13 press conferences. He also had over 275 planned walking interactions and more than 100 sitting interactions.  The foot march traversed through 12 states and two Union territories and covered 4,080 km.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra has been the most beautiful and profound experience of my life, the Wayanad MP said and added that he would think about whether a west-to-east yatra can be undertaken in the future.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra would officially conclude on Monday with a function at the state Congress headquarters in Srinagar followed by a rally at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium.
