Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Hina Khan, and many other Indian celebs have a special place at Cannes this year.

75th Cannes 2022 Day is an exciting time while stars showcase their glamorous garbs while shining on. India has been chosen as the first ‘Country of Honour’ at Marche du Cinema this year.

Deepika Padukone has been given the honor of jury duty this year, AR Rahman, R Madhavan, Shekhar Kapur, Mame Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Pooja Hegde, among others, are a part of the distinguished Indian delegation led by I&B minister Anurag Thakur.

Cannes regular Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was also seen on the Cannes red carpet on Wednesday. Dressed in a floral black gown, the actor walked the red carpet ahead of the screening of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick.

Tom Cruise has not been to the festival in three decades but this year was special when Tom Cruise and Top Gun Maverick walk the red carpet in Cannes where the actor receives the honorary Palme d’Or.

Variety is the spice of life and each individual carries their own flavors.

Pooja Hegde and Helly Shah walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday. While Tamannaah chose black, Pooja went for black on the red carpet.

India’s increased standing at Cannes, one of the world’s largest film markets is also a homage to the country’s 75 years of diplomatic relations with France. Movie lovers say Indian cinema and artists this year will significantly benefit from the global exposure that Cannes provides.

Six films – selected by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting – will be screened on the market this year. They are Nikhil Mahajan’s ‘Godavari’, R Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry The Nambi Effect’, Jayaraj’s ‘Tree Full of Parrots’, Achal Mishra’s ‘Dhuin’, Biswajeet Bora’s ‘Boomba Ride’ and Shankar Shrikumar’s ‘Alpha Beta Gamma’.

These films are not part of the Cannes’ official selection, which will be judged by Indian actor Deepika Padukone as a member of the festival’s international jury.

Sen’s documentary sheds light on the pollution in Delhi and how it affects the ecology of the region, especially birds.

India will also showcase five movies at the Olympia cinema under the “Goes to Cannes” section this year. They are the Assamese movie ‘Baghjan’ by Jaicheng Zxai Dohutia, ‘Bailadila’ by Shailendra Sahu from Chhattisgarh, ‘Ek Jagah Apni’ in Hindi by Ektara Collective, ‘Follower’ in Marathi by Harshad Nalawde and Kannada film ‘Shivamma’ by Jai Shankar.

Shaunak Sen’s intriguing documentary ‘All That Breathes’, which premiered at Sundance not long ago, is the only official selection this year at Cannes, apart from two older films – Satyajit Ray’s ‘Pratidwandi’ and G. Aravindan’s ‘Thamp’.
