IndiaBajrang Dal attacks St Joseph School in Madhya Pradesh

Bajrang Dal went on the rampage today at St Joseph’s school in Ganjbasoda, Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh.

St Joseph’s School in Ganjbasoda, Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh was attacked by the frenzied mob, in District Vidisha.

The institution comes under the Syro-Malabar Church’s Malabar Missionary Brothers (Trissur Archdiocese).

One Christian said, “Sending children to convent schools has long been a badge of pride for the middle class in the Hindi belt, but these same institutions are now being targeted by vigilantes”.

Over 300 instances of violence against Christians by Hindutva groups have been reported from across 21 states, particularly North India, in nine months of this year 2021 alone, according to a fact-finding report by human rights groups!

The Bajrang Dal is a Hindu nationalist militant organization that forms the youth wing of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). It is a member of the right-wing Sangh Parivar.  The ideology of the organization is based on Hindutva and was founded on 1 October 1984 in Uttar Pradesh.  The movement began spreading more in the 2010s throughout India, although its most significant base remains in the northern and central portions of the country. The group runs about 2,500 akhadas, similar to the shakhas (branches) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The name “Bajrang” is a reference to the Hindu deity Hanuman.
