Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has made a major announcement before the T20 World Cup giving information through a tweet on Thursday that he will step down from the T20 captaincy after the upcoming World Cup.
In an emotional post, he thanked all his fellow players, support staff, and BCCI and also described himself as fortunate. He wrote a long post on social media announcing that he will leave captaincy.
He wrote:
In the post, he thanked all those who supported him in his journey as captain. Virat further said that workload plays a big role in the game. “In the last 8-9 years, there has been a lot of pressure in all the three formats. Not only this, in the last 5-6 years I have been captaining continuously in all three formats, so I think I should be fully prepared for Tests and ODIs. In the T20 format, as a captain, I have done everything that I should have done and I will continue to contribute as a batsman in the future.” the post reads.
