“It’s going to be a very long night, no ICU beds, etc.” Tehseen Poonawalla

When Tehseen Poonawalla, activist, the political analyst who also entered “Big Boss 13” tweeted, “IT’S GOING TO BE A VERY LONG NIGHT. There are hardly any #VentilatorBeds or ICU beds available!  People are suffering. My team and I are struggling to accommodate so many ICU requests..hospitals are full and they are waiting for beds …” it tore our hearts.

While we would go to sleep safely at night, there are teams up all night warring against Corona and reaching out to thousands and also bravely exposing themselves to the virus. We suddenly caught a glimpse of the horrors out there in the whirlwind of the Corona battlegrounds and the heroes in shining armor out there fighting COVID furiously.  While thousands are dying, many others are reviving and being brought back to full healing and recovery.

Some of the horrors faced were the criminals out there trying to make money out of the dying, selling oxygen and medicine, and ICU beds in the black market and shooting up auto and taxi services, but COVID heroes and warriors also emerged brightening up the black spaces of wickedness in the storm.

Srinivas B V too with the Indian Youth Congress team is working frantically around the clock to supply emergency oxygen, plasma medicine, and even food and water.  Indian Youth Congress teams even sleep out in the streets with the homeless in solidarity with the homeless providing them with food, medicine, blankets, and care during the swirling storm of the pandemic.

Srinivas B V said, “The administration and systems have collapsed….I have never seen so many people dying at the same time.”

“Mine and my team’s work may be a drop in the ocean — but a drop nevertheless,” he said.

“I am ready to take care of cremation.”

COVID warriors are reaching out through dense dark nights and even comforting the ones who lost their loved ones. Recently, some Congress Leaders set up 2 COVID Hospitals within 48 hours

One such story has emerged from the remote district of Rajasthan – Barmer, in which Congress leaders have built two Covid care centers within a span of just 48 hours when the raging pandemic has affected over 2,000 villages, and this has given great relief, equipped with modern facilities.  Another 100-bed facility has come up in around two days in Barmer’s Bayatu. It has 100 beds, 30 of which have oxygen support. This will be the line of treatment for locals, and will provide medical facilities for patients from rural areas of the district.

INC Congress, Dr. M. B. Patil, MLA-Babaleshwar, former Home & Water Resources Minister of Government of Karnataka has voluntarily slashed treatment prices by 70% at his hospital at Vijayapura, Karnataka, and has reserved 500 oxygen beds for COVID-positive patients.

People are rising up and helping all over the nation, heroic citizens as COVID warriors, doctors, nurses, NGOs, some political parties, and foreign aid.

However, while we must join hands to help, the Center’s apathy and mismanagement of handling COVID have led to a national catastrophe in dimensions seen in no other country. The health minister also misled India when India was exporting vaccines abroad said India has enough vaccines for every India. It must be noted that the UK got 60% of their population vaccinated along with the three-month lockdown and their death rates have diminishing down to 1 digit.  The UK was terribly hit at the beginning of the pandemic far worse than India.

Before the pandemic, we used to cremate 8-10 people daily, now cremating 100-120 daily,” said the heads of crematoriums.  Hundreds of bodies are being piled up, and there are mass burials and cremations.  Due to lack of space and firewood, bodies are being thrown into the Yamuna and Ganga, which will cause major epidemics due to contamination of water.  The people are left without leaders to guide them, heavily neglected, and very ignorant and in desperate measures simply throw bodies into the water, an act that defies dignity to the dead.

The Prime Minister with massive rallies also inflamed the pandemic leading to the rising deaths and Bengal after elections are seeing a COVID bomb exploding, people are dying all over.  After Kumbh Mela alone with an attendance of 2 million pilgrims, the cases in Uttarakhand shot up to 1800 percent.  Mass rallies and gatherings led to the second wave, which India was already warned would happen, but ignored it.

The most fatal pandemic Bubonic Plague recorded in human history, caused the death of 75–200 million people, called the Black Plague monstrously took away lives in a bid for death where the dead overpowered the living. It is said the plague ended through the implementation of quarantines and lockdowns.

While it is not possible to shut down India, it is important to restrict mega-events and gatherings which never happened, starting from the top. It is important to identify red-hot zones and quarantine those areas and it is important to promote and help businesses and shops to run to strengthen the economy running the balance.

In fact, when WHO warned the world of the pandemic in February 2020, PM Modi blithely ignored this and flung open the gates of India to Namaste Trump with over 125,000 with grand attendance of foreign nationals and Indians crowing the mega gathering.  While after this, Gujarat became a hotspot red-zoned COVID “center”, there was not much news on it, not the way they did “breaking news and big “shocking” headlines on Tablighi Jamaat.

Tablighi Jamaat, a Sunni Muslim missionary gathering in New Delhi with an attendance of 9000 had Indian media heavily focus on the event, with headlines such as how the Tablighi Jamaat event became India’s worst coronavirus hot spot. It is said the BJP IT cell and media divided the nation on community and religion from this event and spread a lot of hateful news against them on social media including WhatsApp.

The bewildered Tabhligi Jamaat found themselves trapped in the heat of controversies of hate. The villainization of the Tablighi Jamaat group brought untold sorrows in the middle of the pandemic.  Many neutrals in the nation rose to defend them. When members of the Tablighi Jamaat were cured of Corona, they heroically gave their blood serum to be used as antibodies for the virus.  They are still helping and reaching out even today.

The Sikhs and other communities are helping but the government is keen on dividing.  A Muslim man recently gave his wooden furniture in his home to a Hindu neighbor who did not have wood to cremate his loved one.

It is love through caring, service that can overcome, and for this, one applauds the nurses, doctors, COVID warriors wonderful citizens, NGOs, Srinivas B V, Tehseen Poonawalla, the Indian Youth Congress team, and thousands of others.

Rahul Gandhi, Congress chief said that the Congress’ Dharma to serve and to love, Rahul Gandhi said on Twitter, ‘System’ failed, so it’s important to do Jan ki baat:

In this crisis, the country needs responsible citizens. I request my Congress colleagues to leave all political work- just provide all help and ease the pain of our countrymen.

This is the Dharma of the Congress family.
