Congress sets the stage in backing Aam Aadmi Party and in the upcoming Opposition meeting in Bengaluru.

The announcement by the Congress party opposing the ordinance passed by the Centre to take control of the Delhi government’s bureaucracy sets the stage for the participation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the upcoming Opposition meeting in Bengaluru. The Congress party’s stance against the ordinance indicates its support for the AAP-led Delhi government and its willingness to address the issue of central encroachment on the state government’s powers.

The Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group, led by Sonia Gandhi and attended by senior leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, convened a 90-minute meeting at her residence. Following the meeting, a public proclamation was made during a press briefing, outlining the Congress party’s stance. The discussion primarily focused on the party’s strategy for the upcoming Monsoon Session.

According to sources, it was confirmed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would participate in the Opposition meeting scheduled in Bengaluru, taking place on Monday and Tuesday. When repeatedly questioned about the Congress party’s position regarding the ordinance and the proposed Bill, Jairam Ramesh, the Congress General Secretary (Communications), addressed these concerns during a subsequent press conference. He stated that the Congress party has consistently opposed the “assaults” by the Modi government on constitutional rights, as well as the interference with democratically elected state governments and local bodies.

The Congress press briefing and the discussions held during the Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group’s meeting serve to highlight the party’s commitment to challenging the actions of the Modi government. The participation of the AAP in the forthcoming Opposition meeting in Bengaluru further underscores the collective effort of opposition parties to address these concerns and strategize for the future.
