India has the highest LPG prices in the world, and LPG cylinder shoots up again and increased by Rs 50 in the national capital of India

Domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinder’s prices increased by Rs 50/cylinder on Wednesday where an LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 1053 in Delhi. 5kg domestic cylinder price increase by Rs 18/cylinder. 19kg commercial cylinder prices decreased by Rs 8.50.

This will trigger off hikes across states and in Mumbai, a cylinder will now cost Rs 1,052.50, Rs 1,079 in Kolkata, and Chennai residents will have to pay Rs 1,068.50.

In the last year, the rate of domestic LPG (LPG) cylinders in Delhi has surged from Rs 834.50 to Rs 1003. The rate of 14.2 kg domestic LPG (LPG) cylinder was last increased by Rs 4 on May 19, 2022. Earlier on May 7 in Delhi, the rate was Rs 999.50 per cylinder. On May 7, the LPG cylinder became costlier by Rs 50 as against the rate of Rs 949.50 on March 22, 2022. Further, on March 22 also, there was a hike of Rs 50 in the price of the cylinder. Earlier, between October 2021 and February 2022, the rates of domestic LPG cylinders stood at Rs 899.50 in Delhi.

For LPG, prices in India at Int $3.5 a liter are the world’s highest. India is followed by Turkey, Fiji, Moldova, and Ukraine. In Switzerland, France, Canada, and the UK, LPG is priced at about Int $1 per liter. For diesel, the price in India at Int $4.6 is the world’s eighth highest.

Earlier this year, when LPG was hiked again, crossing Rs. 1000, rural India is going back to chulas because cooking gas is becoming unaffordable for the lower middle-income groups and poor sections of society.
