LPG cylinder by Rs. 3.50, cylinder rates cross Rs 1000; and with spiraling costs, rural Indian women are using chulas as gas is not feasible.
There has been a hike in the price of a domestic LPG cylinder by Rs. 3.50 while the cost of a commercial cylinder has been raised by Rs 8 and accordingly, the rate of domestic LPG cylinders has crossed Rs 1000 in several cities.
There are many rural women using chulas because gas is becoming unaffordable for the underprivileged sections.
The price of a domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi and Mumbai is Rs 1003, in Kolkata the domestic LPG cylinder will cost Rs 1029 and in Chennai, it will cost Rs 1018.5 from today
In fact, the LPG price was hiked for the second time this month. Earlier on May 7, the price of a cylinder was raised by Rs 50. Along with the domestic cylinder, the commercial cylinder had also become expensive.
There is a sense of panic with the rise in prices because with a lack of jobs and inflation, and high taxes, the cost of living is becoming unaffordable for the common citizen, bearing the brunt of every high tax and expense.
Last year too in October 2021, fuel prices soared up again to highest ever levels in India.
Congress said that a few years ago when LPG cost Rs. 40.00 under their government, the BJP was out on the streets screaming “blue murder”, yet now, they are frozen silent.
