After serial killings target Kashmiri Hindus and migrants, panic-stricken Kashmiri Pandits say, “today Kashmir is more dangerous than 1990s.”
It was extremely disturbing when two migrant brick kiln workers were shot by terrorists. The two non-local brick kiln workers, identified as 17-year-old Dilkhush Kumar from Bihar was killed on Thursday, and Goria from Punjab survived. Both were in the Magraypora Village of Chadoora Tehsil in Budgam according to police sources.
“Both the injured laborers were shifted to hospital where doctors said one had reported with a shoulder gunshot and the other with a bullet injury in his hand. Dilkhush succumbed to his injuries and the condition of Goria is stable,” a source said.
This horrific incident occurred hours after Banker Vijay Kumar was shot dead while he was working in the bank. Vijay Kumar was posted to Kashmir only last week, from Rajasthan. Kashmir has been rattled by a string of targeted cold-blooded murders in broad daylight and at night, right in people’s own homes, schools, and offices with now about eight serial killings in the Valley since last month May 1. However, serial targeted killings have been prominent even in 2021.
Home Minister Amit Shah holds a meeting to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The situation is grave in Kashmir where 100 Kashmiri Hindu families have fled Kashmir to relocate to Jammu and other places as panic spread after the killing of a Hindu school teacher in Kashmir, a community leader said on Wednesday.

Kashmir is the most militarized zone in the world and how is this happening?
There is a military rule in Kashmir with 500,000 armed troops (300,000 army troops, 70,000 Rashtriya Rifle soldiers, 130,000 central police forces) to control the people and over 100,000 civilian intelligence and surveillance- lance operatives to monitor them. There is something seriously wrong if, amid such heavy army control, terrorists are finding civilians the easiest targets and walking into their houses, schools, and offices and shooting them and getting away with it. What is more frightening is locals get wrongly framed as terrorists and can either be gunned down or arrested and there is widespread fear from the Kashmiris, fear of Army guns and arrests, and fear of terrorist attacks.
It is voiced by people that the BJP government must admit that the Abrogation of Article 370 was one of their biggest failures in bringing back Kashmir to an era reminiscent of the 1900s.
