Health3.16 lakhs cases in Single Day- highest ever in any country, elections still on

In a frightening highest rise which now appears to be racing out of control, there is a recorded 3.16 lakh new COVID-19 cases in Single Day in India, the highest ever for any country in the world.  It has taken just 17 days for the daily case count to rise from 1 lakh on April 4 to over 3 lakh on Wednesday.  In spite of this, the Central Government and the EC is on election mode, refusing to stop campaigns nor postpone the election, nor club the remaining 3 polls together, as requested.

For the first time, in any country, while India reaches over  3 Lakh covid cases and yesterday 2,023 deaths, this is the seventh straight day of over two lakh new cases in the country.

Presently, the antiviral drug, sold in an injection vial is costing 25,000 per vial and the drug is out of stock in many hospitals. Oxygen supplies have run out and many smaller hospitals have no oxygen, and patients are sent home to die. Coronavirus attacks the lungs at the last stages and people sadly die gasping for air.

Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state – on Tuesday reported 62,097 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to over 39.6 lakh while 519 more patients died of the virus.

After Maharashtra, the southern states of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh have the highest number of infections.

Delhi on Tuesday reported 28,395 coronavirus cases as it registered its biggest ever single-day spike. After several SOS appeals from CM Arvind Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendar Jain for oxygen supply at hospitals, some of the city’s biggest hospitals received medical oxygen late in the night.

Kerala on Tuesday recorded its highest single-day rise in COVID-19 infections with 19,577 cases, which takes the state’s tally to over 12.72 lakh. Deaths of 28 patients were reported on the same day.

In Uttar Pradesh, nearly 30,000 new cases were reported. The state will give vaccines free of cost from May 1, when vaccinations will be opened to all above 18.

Mizoram has the second-lowest number of COVID-19 cases in the nation after Lakshadweep, with 5,085 total confirmed cases and 12 deaths, according to Union Health Ministry data.on Tuesday.  Mizoram also became the first northeastern state to declare a week-long lockdown from Tuesday to April 26.

Over 29.9 lakh vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and over 13.01 crore vaccine doses have been administered since the mega vaccination drive against coronavirus began in January.

PM Modi addressed the nation on Tuesday night. He said the need of the hour is to save the country from a lockdown and asked state governments to treat lockdowns only as the last resort and concentrate on micro-containment zones.

While it is agreed that one cannot lockdown India, COVID hot spots need to be identified and quarantined.  We still see masses swirling out in rallies and crowds without masks.

People are raising questions about the Prime Minister’s massive rallying in Bengal with herds of masses attending his rallies and saying he appears to remain deaf to the criticism hurled against him for doing this.

The most fatal pandemic known as the Bubonic Plague recorded in human history left 75–200 million people dead, also called the Black Plague monstrously took away lives.  Humans were dead everywhere and towns were immersed in deathly silence.  It is said the plague ended through the implementation of quarantines.

Distancing and staying indoors will not give the pandemic a human host to thrive on and it will eventually die, but humans are greedy, stubborn, and selfish, and on account of such, millions will suffer but do they really care?
