Kaushambi: In a road accident in Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, eight people, including six women boarded in a Scorpio car, were killed and two others were seriously injured.
Police sources said the incident occurred at the Devi Ganj intersection when a Scorpio car parked on the road was hit by a speedy truck carrying sand. The collision was so horrific that the car overturned and was badly damaged and the occupants were seriously injured.
He said that six women and a child in the car died before police reached the spot, while the driver was taken out in the critical condition. But before reaching the hospital he also stopped breathing. Two teenagers injured in the accident have been admitted to the district hospital where their condition is said to be critical.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences on the road accident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families and ordered proper treatment of the injured.
Sources said the casualties had come from Shehzadpur village in Kokhraj area to attend a matrimonial ceremony at Maheshwari Garden in Deviganj market. On the way back, the driver lost his way and parked the car at the intersection and, in the meantime, a person sitting in the car got down and asked the passers-by that the truck was hit by a sand-laden truck.
He said that those who died included Poonam (22), Saina (27), Muskan (54), Neha (28), Roshni (50), and Shashi (40). Apart from this, eight-year-old boy Om and the car driver also died in the accident. Efforts are being made to identify the driver. Among the injured, Khushi (16) and White (13) were admitted to the district hospital in critical condition.
After the accident, the truck driver escaped leaving the car who is being searched. The people from the bride’s side are from Fatehpur district.
