On Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal set in motion a vote of confidence in the Assembly, slated for discussion on Saturday.
During his plea for confidence in the Assembly, he disclosed, “Two MLAs approached me, stating they were approached by BJP members with offers of Rs 25 crore each. They were informed that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would be apprehended and the government overthrown.” Asserting that the Delhi excise policy case was fabricated, he accused the BJP of aiming to destabilize the AAP administration.
A Delhi court has summoned Kejriwal to appear on February 17 regarding a complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for evading summons in a case linked to the excise policy. The court observed that prima facie, the AAP leader was “legally obligated” to comply.
The ED pursued legal action after Kejriwal ignored the fifth summons from the investigative body for interrogation in a case involving money laundering linked to the liquor policy in Delhi.
