In the early hours of Monday morning, torrential rain in Raysan near Kayas Village in Kullu district took one life and injured three.
According to a spokesperson from the state government, one person tragically lost their life on the spot, while three others were injured when the vehicle they were traveling in was swept away at 0355 hrs. The rescue police team promptly arrived at the scene, but the rehabilitation efforts were hindered due to a blocked road leading to the village.
The deceased traveling in the Kayas Village near Kullu has been identified as Badal Sharma, son of Sh. Ganesh Sharma from Chansari Village. The injured individuals, Khem Chand, son of Sh. Nanak Chand from Badogi Village, Suresh Sharma, son of Sh. Lais Ram, and Kapil, son of Sh. Kamlesh Sharma from Chansari Village, were swiftly rushed to the hospital. Among the injured, two individuals sustained major injuries in the incident.
The overall death toll in rain-related mishaps has now reached 118. The state government reported that the Monsoon rain caused a substantial loss of Rs 4418 crore in the state, with approximately 4500 houses being damaged by the inclement weather.
