WorldRussian missiles attack, stops grain putting global hunger back on the table

Russian forces launched 13 missile strikes hitting 15 settlements in the past day, stops grain putting global hunger back on the table.

Kyiv Independent reports that in the past 24 hours, Russian troops have carried out 13 missile strikes and hit Ukraine 29 times with multiple rocket launchers, according to the General Staff.  More than 15 settlements in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Kherson oblasts have been under attack.

They report that Russian forces occupied Kherson and have also stolen public transport, medicines from pharmacies, and medical equipment from several city hospitals.

It is also said that Moscow used a false pretext to block the grain corridors and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Oct. 29th that Ukraine had warned of Russia’s plans to ruin the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

It came as a shock when Russia said it was suspending its participation in an agreement to export grain from Ukrainian ports after drone attacks in Crimea for which Moscow blames Kyiv.  With the stoppage of grain, Russia is putting global hunger back on the table.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that Moscow has moved to suspend its implementation of a U.N.-brokered grain export deal which has seen more than 9 million tons of grain exported from Ukraine and brought down global food prices.

How Did the War Start?

On February 24, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine by land, air, and sea after months of strain between Moscow and Kyiv. The attack initiated a chain of events over the next six months including unprecedented sanctions against Russia and the expansion of NATO. Tens of thousands have lost their lives and 5.3 million people have been forced to flee their homes, the greatest refugee surge to OECD countries since World War II.
