King Charles III appoints Rishi Sunak as the new prime minister at Buckingham Palace and ordered him to form a government.
Rishi Sunak is a Hindu of Pakistani origin from the city of Gujranwala in Pakistan originally, and while his parents lived in Africa, he was born in Britian and is a British national. Rishi Sunak won the race to become Britain’s first prime minister of colour after getting the support of more than half of Conservative MPs on Monday. Sunak officially became the prime minister after an audience with the King at Buckingham Palace. After meeting with the King, the new prime minister will return to London and speak outside the Downing Street office. Sunak became the first prime minister appointed by King Charles III and the third UK Prime Minister this year alone.
On Monday, Sunak was elected head of the UK Conservative Party. He became the only candidate to run for office after House of Commons leader Penny Mordaunt announced she was withdrawing her candidacy.
Rishi Sunak met King Charles today and will be the first PM to be appointed by the new monarch since the death of Queen Elizabeth. Liz Truss was appointed by the Queen two days before her death on September 8.
New UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak started on his work within an hour of his meeting with King Charles II. Sources said he has asked for the resignation of several members of Liz Truss’s team of ministers as a precursor to the announcement of his new cabinet.
So far four ministers have been asked to step down. Among them are Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg, Justice Secretary Brandon Lewis, Work and Pensions Secretary Chloe Smith and Development minister Vicky Ford, sources said. Reports indicate that Jeremy Hunt — who replaced Kwasi Kwarteng — will stay on as the finance minister.

I will unite our country, not with words, but with action.
I will work day in and day out to deliver for you.

Sunak became the first PM of colour in Britain and won the support of more than half of the Conservative MPs after his challenger Penny Mordaunt pulled out of the race.
Former British PM Boris Johnson was expected to announce his candidacy but he also pulled out of race after reportedly failing to get at least 100 backers, the threshold required to make it on to the ballot. Johnson, however, claimed that he had the required support but decided not to run as “this would simply not be the right thing to do.” Sunak’s appointment came as several prominent Tory MPs visited his campaign headquarters on Monday.
With taking charge, Sunak will immediately have to take measures to grapple with UK’s dwindling economy which Truss failed to manage. Her economic program triggered the crisis, agitating the country into further chaos which even triggered public demands to oust her.

In the meantime, Jayawardena tweeted his resignation letter to the prime minister, in which he said it was a privilege to serve in the role and that he would continue to work hard for his constituents in North East Hampshire.
Presently, both India and Pakistan lay claim to Rishi Sunak’s ancestry and there is a bit of a tussle there. “The Sunaks are a Punjabi Khatri family from Gujranwala, now in Pakistan,” tweeted one Queen Lioness 86, adding: “Ramdas Sunak, Rishi’s paternal grandfather, left Gujranwala to work as a clerk in Nairobi in 1935.” Ramdas’ wife, Suhag Rani Sunak, moved to Delhi first from Gujranwala, along with her mother-in-law, before traveling to Kenya in 1937.”
His appointment has left some bewilderment as Richard Medhurst in the UK said, “We have a new prime minister in the UK, unelected by the British people or even the Tories. He didn’t give a single debatr, interview or statement about what his “program” is. All we know about him is he’s stinking rich and working for Goldman Sachs. But hey, he’s the first non-white PM! Lol.
