Initially, JDA had planned to inaugurate the Sodala Elevated Road on August 15 to mark Independence Day. However, the date was delayed as construction was still in progress.
The length of the elevated road from Ambedkar Circle to Sodala is 2.8 km. The elevated road will provide relief from traffic congestion between Sodala and Rambagh Circle. The road is expected to save nearly 40 minutes of traveling time and decongest Hawa Sadak as it would offer a non-stop drive at a speed of up to 50 kmph.
The other proposed projects to be inaugurated on Thursday are – construction works for a guest house in the Rajasthan International Center Campus and a sewerage treatment plant in Prithviraj Nagar. Ashok Gehlot will also lay the foundation stone for the construction works of the main trunk line of Vyas and for the construction of two main drainage lines in the city.
Earlier, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot launched 100 days job scheme for the urban unemployed. Gehlot also used the occasion to take a dig at PM Narendra Modi, who accused the states of using freebies to win votes. He said, “We have seen ‘ravadis’ being sold on a handcart in Johri Bazar. But providing free treatment and employment to needy people is the responsibility of the government, not the ‘ravadis'”.
Calling it historic, Gehlot said the scheme was prepared after studying similar ones being operated on a smaller scale in other states. “We recently held a rally in Delhi against the Centre over inflation. This fight with the Centre will run parallel in the public interest but here is an excellent scheme under which various types of works will be done,” Gehlot said. Local-self government and urban development and housing minister Shanti Dhariwal said more than 4 lakh people have registered under the scheme and around 2.5 lakh job cards have been issued.
The project was launched during an event at Ambedkar Bhawan. It was telecast live and district-level events were attended by ministers in charge of those districts. JMC-H mayor Munesh Gurjar, minister Mahesh Joshi, local MLAs Rafiq Khan and Amin Kagzi, and social welfare board chairperson Archana Sharma were present.
