Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Haryana and actor Sonali Phogat died suddenly of a heart attack in Goa at age 42.
Sonali Phogat was an actress, TikTok star, and BJP politician and content creator. She was last seen in Bigg Boss 14, where Sonali entered as a wildcard contestant, after which she gained immense popularity. police said on Tuesday, according to The Hindu. Phogat joined the BJP in 2008 and went on to become the national vice president of BJP’s Maliha Morcha.
Sonali, who was in BJP, had posted a new pic only 13 hours ago (at the time of filing this copy). In the picture, she is seen sporting a bright pink safa on her head. This was her last picture.
She breathed her last on August 22 night. As per reports, she suffered a heart attack. According to the Goa DG, the police received information about Sonali Phogat’s death from ST Antony Hospital in North Goa.

Her political career began in 2008. She was the National Vice President of BJP’s Mahila Morcha. Sonali had contested the assembly elections from Adampur on a BJP ticket in the 2019 Haryana elections. She was pitted against Kuldeep Bishnoi, who recently switched over from the Congress party to the BJP. However, she lost.

During her lifetime, Sonali Phogat’s name came up in several controversies, including the mysterious death of her husband. In December 2016, she lost her husband Sanjay Phogat. He died at the age of 42 under mysterious circumstances in his farmhouse in Haryana. Also, she was arrested for slapping a government official in Hisar. She had accused him of using derogatory language against her.
A video clip, purportedly showing the actress beating the district’s agricultural market committee official with a slipper after accusing him of having made some indecent remarks against her, went viral on social media.
Sonali Phogat’s husband’s untimely death
Sonali Phogat, who recently passed away due to a heart attack in Goa, was married to Sanjay Phogat, who was also a BJP leader. Though the exact date and year are not known, it is speculated that Sonali and Sanjay tied the knot sometime in 2006.
After a decade of their marriage and having a daughter together, Sonali Phogat’s husband Sanjay’s body was found near his farmhouse in Hisar, Haryana. The cause of death is not yet known. Media and police said that the BJP had died under “mysterious circumstances” in 2016.
According to sources, Sonali Phogat’s body will be brought to Delhi from Goa. Her daughter Yashodhara is in an inconsolable state now having lost both her mother and her father.
