5G scam: 5G scam is top trending on Twitter, slamming the BJP. The question rises if the 2G spectrum which is mainly for voice and text was worth Rs.1.76 lakhs crores, how can the5G spectrum which drives applications such as connected cars, remote surgeries, augmented reality, and meta be 1.5 lakh crores when it had actually had an auction worth 4.3 lakh crores.
There are allegations of a scam in the auction of 5G spectrum because the government had kept the base price of 5G spectrum at Rs 4.3 lakh crores but got only Rs 1.5 crore from the auction. There are parallels made to the alleged “2G scam” in 2008 which was cleared by the Supreme Court of not being a scam, where in 2008, the UPA government collected 176,000 lakh cr for auction of 2G, and in 2022, the BJP government should have collected 400,000 lakh crores, not 150,000 lakh crores, for 5G, collected far less than UPA.

The public is accusing the government of doing a massive scam calling it the biggest in Indian history regarding the 5G auction, which is actually the greatest spectrum auction in India which lasted 7 days and ended on more than 1.5 lakh crores.
After this auction, people on social media are making serious allegations against the Modi government with the hashtag of #5G_Scam_Bjp is trending at the top. People are saying that everything was predetermined and the auction was just a hoax.
Billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani’s company Jio made the biggest bid in the 5G spectrum auction during the 7-day 5G spectrum auction that ended on August 1. Nearly half of the total spectrum was bought by bidding for Rs 88,078 crores by him.
According to Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the Adani Group has bought a 400 MHz spectrum for Rs 212 crore. Jio has bought spectrum in various bands, including the 700 MHz band. Adani Group has bought spectrum in the 26 MHz band.
Bharti Airtel has bought 19,867 MHz spectrum for Rs 43,084 crore. Vodafone Idea has bought a spectrum worth Rs 18,784 crore. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that in total, bids worth Rs 1,50,173 crore were placed. He said that in the first year, the government got 13 in spectrum items.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also said that in the first phase, 13 cities of India will start getting 5G services. The rollout of the first phase will start in the month of August-September. The cities include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune.
