IndiaIn Karnataka, a group of miscreants entered a home and burnt a Bible

In Karnataka, a group of miscreants entered a home having prayers on Tuesday evening and set a Bible on fire.

A group of men from allegedly the Bajrang Dal allegedly broke into a house at Mallenu Village in Hiriyur Taluk in Chitradurga district of Karnataka on Tuesday evening and set a Bible on fire.

The incident occurred when the people from the church went to Ekantamma’s house, a 62-year-old lady in the evening as she was unwell to hold prayers for her. When they were on their way back home, the four men started quarreling with the people from the prayer meeting demanding why they were holding prayers in the house.

The assailants are members of the Bajrang Dal, according to Public TV. The Hindutva men also accused the Christian family of forced religious conversion, which the Christian family denied as they were holding a prayer meeting.

Parashurama, the SP of Chitradurga said, “Ekantamma, a 62-year-old lady went to a Church in Hiriyur because she was not feeling well. She also informed her father, Rama Naik of the same.

The SP also said, “Ekantamma hasn’t registered a case yet, we have also called Rama Naik and we will ask him if he wants to lodge a complaint, if not we will file a preventive case.”

Rising Persecution of Christians is Causing Alarm

Of note, there are 2% Christians in India, around 16% Muslims, and others are Dalits, Buddhists, Jains, Zoroastrians, Jews, and atheists, amid the Hindu majoritarian country of 80% Hindus.

Today, in India when Christians gather on Sunday mornings to worship God, their church doors are rammed open, pastors and even the congregation in the church are beaten, sometimes so badly that they break their legs, smash their churches and the Hindutva radicals make reports to the police that these Christians are converting the people to Christ.

It is reported that sometimes, a neighbor asks a Christian for a Bible and when they give it, they call the cops to report that the Christians are “trying to convert” them. Several Christians have been arrested on false FIRs such as these and it appears the police are in sync with the local religious fanatics.

While there are certain Christians who feel safe in the periphery of their luxurious comfort zones, there are millions who live in vulnerable territories, especially in villages, and pastors, preachers, and NGOs helping society are targeted under the accusations of “conversion.”

In USA and UK and other places in Europe, Hindus have the freedom to worship and even propagate Hinduism and no one attacks them.  Sanatana Dharma Hinduism is growing the fastest in Western countries where they have embraced Hinduism, and they sure are not persecuted by their governments for it.

It is unfortunate that propagators of Hindutva accuse 2% to 3% of Christians of conversion and attack them. The government must protect minorities in India.
