Asaduddin Owaisi among 31 booked for ‘promoting enmity”

IndiaAsaduddin Owaisi among 31 booked for ‘promoting enmity"

Asaduddin Owaisi is among 31 other people booked for allegedly making inflammatory remarks that promote enmity between different groups

Delhi Police has booked at least 31 people, including All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, for allegedly making inflammatory remarks that allegedly promote enmity between different groups.  However, there is no specific reason why Asaduddin Owaisi is booked and this could be just done to tranquilize the outrage of BJP workers over the suspension of Nupur Sharma.

Expelled BJP spokesperson Naveen Jindal is also named in the same FIR. During social media monitoring, the intelligence and strategic ops unit of the special cell detected that multiple Twitter handles, Facebook profiles, TV debates, and other social media handles were posting material that was allegedly spreading hate and against the “maintenance of public tranquillity”.

“One such tweet was posted by Naveen Kumar Jindal from his handle ‘@naveenjindalbjp’ which used words and language against Prophet Muhammad. These words which were used by Jindal were highly provocative and more than sufficient to incite a feeling of hatred amongst people which could be detrimental to the maintenance of public tranquillity (sic),”

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Delhi FIR: doesn’t specify the crime “From the analysis of material available on social media and articles published in newspapers and other forums, it clearly depicts that some other persons were also using hate-worthy languages (sic) intentionally or having complete knowledge that use of such language, claim, assertion, is not only discriminatory but more than sufficient to create a situation of animosity amongst different groups of persons having faith in different religions.”

The FIR then names the following: Shadab Chauhan, Saba Naqvi, Hafizul Hasan Ansari, Bihari Lal Yadav, Ilyas Sarfuddin, Maulana Mufti Nadeem, Abdur Rehman, R Vikraman, Nagma Sheikh, Dr Mohammad Kaleem Turk, Atiur Rehman Khan, Suja Ahmed, Vineeta Sharma, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Asaduddin Owaisi, Kumar Divashankar, Danish Qureshi, Mohammad Sajid Shaheen, Q Sensei, Gulzar Ansari, Saifaddin Qutuz, Maulana Sarfaraz, Pooja Shakoon Pandey, Pooja Priyamvada, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Masood Faiz Hasmi and others.

“This will certainly be a serious threat to public tranquillity and maintenance of public order in our country wherein people have been living peacefully. Transmission and publication of such language has been done through electronic media which are filthy in nature and appeals to prurient interest and sufficient to deprave and corrupt any person who see it or hear the objectionable words (sic),”

India on Thursday restated that the remarks on Prophet Muhammad by two BJP functionaries didn’t indicate the views of the government even as Iran deleted its readout of the foreign minister’s meeting in which it had said that NSA Ajit Doval had promised strong action against the language and the picture uploaded are not mentioned taking into consideration the nature of the case. ”

The thread discussion on Twitter is inciting sentiments that can create an issue of maintenance of peace. Cyberspace being boundary-less, the implications have a wide-reaching impact across various parts of the country. Jindal and others have used provocative language without using any precaution and having knowledge that it will have wide ramifications,” the FIR further reads.

From the content of alleged tweets, prima facie offense under Sections 153, 153A, 153B, 295A, 298, 504, 505, and 506 of the IPC is made out, the cops said. The sections pertaining to promoting enmity between different groups and deliberate acts intended to outrage religious feelings.

Earlier, Nupur Sharma was suspended and this move is said to be done to placate the Arab world because as people say, “it’s all about the money.”

Who started the fire?

Religious tensions between Muslims and Hindus are escalating in India.  One can say this all was provoked by the BJP as evidenced by the hate speeches made against Muslims in public places spurred on by certain BJP leaders, anti-Muslim chanting, stopping them from their afternoon Namaz prayers in certain areas, and the BJP government agents bulldozing down their dwellings leaving them with nothing, lynching, hijab laws, the CAA, the attacks on mosques during the Hindu festivals recently in an attempt to provoke, and other discriminatory laws directed against Muslims.

It is for the government and politicians to swing the pendulum to neutral zones before things get out of control, because after all, who started the fire, the citizens, certainly not.
