There are around 27 people who died in the massive fire in Delhi’s Mundka, 12 injured and the number of deceased could rise up.

The fire broke out in a commercial building located near Mundka metro station in Delhi.  Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai has said that the owner of the commercial building where the fire broke out has been arrested stating that the fire had been caused due to negligence. He said action would be taken against those found responsible for this negligence.

Chief Minister Kejriwal promises 10 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of those who died as he visited the site and vowed ‘punishment’ to guilty with a probe ordered.  Prime Minister Modi announces ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next kin of those killed in the tragic Mundka fire.

Around 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flame and the firefighting operation has been concluded. The rescue operation is still underway in the area. The NDRF team has also reached the spot.

Talking to the media, Delhi Police DCP, Sameer Sharma said, over 50 people have been rescued so far. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained though it is suspected to be negligence.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the priority is to evacuate people and provide immediate treatment to the injured. Mr. Shah called the fire tragedy “very sad.”
