Punjabi singer, and leader of Congress, Sidhu Moose Wala was fired upon while traveling in a jeep receiving 30 rounds of shots, and died.
Congress leader and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in broad daylight by unknown assailants in Mansa district, Punjab on Sunday. The incident happened a day after his security cover was withdrawn by the Aam Aadmi Party government.
Sidhu Moose Wala’s death has also triggered a war of words with the Congress calling it a “murder” and political leaders from various parties lashing out at the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government.
According to reports, Sidhu was brought dead to a hospital while two other persons who sustained bullet injuries in the attack are undergoing treatment. “Three people were brought to the hospital, out of which Sidhu Moose Wala was dead. After giving primary treatment, the two injured have been referred to a higher institute for further treatment,” Mansa Hospital’s Civil Surgeon Dr. Ranjeet Rai told the media.
Condolences pour out from a shocked nation:
“Deeply shocked and saddened by the murder of promising Congress leader and talented artist, Sidhu Moosewala. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and fans from across the world,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also expressed her condolences on the demise. “The news of the murder of the talented singer, youth icon, and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala ji is very painful. This incident surprised us all. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones,” Priyanka tweeted in Hindi.
Congress leader Manish Tewari also condoled Moose Wala’s ‘dastardly murder’ and urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to bring the perpetrators to justice at the earliest. “Sad to hear about the dastardly murder of @iSidhuMooseWala @INCPunjab Candidate from Mansa & a popular Punjabi singer. I urge Chief Minister @BhagwantMann to get this unfortunate occurrence investigated & the perpetrators brought to justice at the earliest,” Tewari tweeted. Notably, Moose Wala had joined the Congress party last year ahead of the Assembly elections. (ANI)
Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, in a tweet after Sidhu Moosewala’s murder, asked residents to “remain calm”. Soon after the incident, the leader took to Twitter and condemned the attack on the singer-turned-politician.
In his tweet, Mann wrote: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the gruesome murder of Siddhu Moosewala. Nobody involved will be spared. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and his fans across the world. I appeal everyone to stay calm.”
Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwa tweeted, “The murder of Sidhu Musewala is very sad and shocking. I just spoke to Punjab CM Man Sahib. The culprits will be given the harshest punishment. I request everyone to keep calm and maintain peace. May God rest his soul.”

Congress shocked at the murder lashed out at AAP tweeting, “We will bring “change”, they said. All the AAP govt in Punjab has done is spread fake propaganda & jeopardize the law and order situation in a highly sensitive border state. Young dreams have been shattered today. Morality has been murdered.”
National Spokesperson of Congress Supriya Shrinate tweeted, “A day after his security was withdrawn #SidhuMoosewala has been shot dead. I pray for his departed soul and keep his family in my prayers. But there is a complete breakdown of law and order in the state of Punjab. This is the real AAP & Kejriwal model, the rest is a sham.”

It appears that this blind removal of security for 423 people was done without any insight and judgment. Did not the AAP perceive that security was given to them for a reason? Thus, what was the rationale for hastily removing that security? Just 24 hours after that decision, Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in broad daylight.
Earlier, AAP workers allegedly had brutally killed Congress worker Iqbal in village Kasowana, Zira.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu (11 June 1993 – 29 May 2022), better known by his stage name Sidhu Moose Wala, was an Indian singer, rapper, actor, and politician associated with Punjabi music and Punjabi cinema. He started his career as a songwriter for the song “License” by Ninja, and began his singing career on a duet song titled “G Wagon”.
In 2021, Moose Wala released Moosetape, tracks from which charted globally including Canadian Hot 100, UK Asian, and New Zealand Hot charts. He had faced legal challenges for promoting gun culture and using inflammatory and inciting lyrics in his songs.
Moose Wala was tragically shot dead by unidentified assailants on 29 May 2022 a day after his security was removed. He was a highly talented singer, a life cut short with many dreams unfulfilled. May his soul rest in peace.
