Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day

When he is in Jammu and Kashmir, at around 11.30 A.M. tomorrow, the Prime Minister will address all the Gram Sabhas across the country. He will visit Palli Panchayat in the Samba district.

Mr. Modi will inaugurate the Banihal Qazigund Road Tunnel.  Its construction started in 2011 and was completed in 2021.  It was built at a cost of over three thousand one hundred crore rupees.  It is a road tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir. It is located in the Lower Himalayas, on National Highway 44.

It is one of the longest tunnels in India, with a length of 8.45 km (5.25 mi) The tunnel reduces the distance between Srinagar and Jammu by 16 km. It also reduces travel time from 2-3 hours to 15 minutes

During his time there, Mr. Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development initiatives worth around twenty thousand crore rupees.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of three road packages of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, being built at a cost of over seven thousand 500 crore rupees.

The Prime Minister will also launch the Amrit Sarovar initiative. It is aimed at developing and rejuvenating 75 water bodies in each district of the country.
