EC acts over EVM complaints, removing 3 UP officials from poll duty after SP complained of EVMs illegally being shifted.

The Election Commission removes three UP officials from poll duty after Samajwadi Party alleged that electronic voting machines were being shifted in an unauthorized manner.

The three officials were removed from election duty in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and replaced on the directions of the Election Commission.

The nodal officer for EVMs in Varanasi, a returning officer (RO) in Sonbhadra district, and an additional election officer in Bareilly district has been pulled out from election duties, a day ahead of the counting of votes in UP.

The situation in Uttar Pradesh is charged and there is presently a reported lathi-charge on people guarding EVMs.

On the call of Rakesh Tikait from the Bharatiya Kisan Farmers Union from Uttar Pradesh, a large number of farmers have left for the counting centers with tractor trolleys.

SP party workers, Congress workers, farmers, and others are all there outside the EVM strong room, vigilantly guarding the EVMs, camping there with bed and bedding!

On the other side, people guarding the EVMs were beaten up by the police!

People are angry in Uttar Pradesh and rightfully so.

Apart from Uttar Pradesh, counting of votes in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, and Manipur will take place on Thursday.

Assembly polls were held in these states over seven phases.
