Unity is diversity call is rising amid the hijab row which was seen as a targeted attack on Muslims, especially after inflammatory comments in the recent Haridwar conclave made against Muslims by Sangh leaders, many seen in earlier pictures with some BJP leaders. A message of unity with a call to “spread the love” is resonating amid hate cries against Muslims which appears to be political propaganda surmised to be led by the BJP in their bid for a Hindu Rashtra.
Spread the love is the message rising and a video of students of different communities walking together to the Government PU College in Udupi has gone viral on social media, on February 17.
While the “right to wear hijab” reverberated throughout India with retaliation from boys donned in saffron scarves heckling a Muslim student, Muskan Zainab also initiated fresh fire passionate fight against the alleged “bullying” by saffron and the row which began in Udupi spread across the country and now the Udupi district has given a message of communal harmony to the society.
The video of students of different communities walking together to the Government PU College in Udupi went viral on social media, on February 17 and made news sending out the strong message that the people in India mostly want to live in harmony.
The fight over the hijab started on January 1st when six girl students of a college in Udupi returned back to college after a two-year close down of college due to COVID-19 to find themselves locked out of the gate because they were wearing hijabs. Apparently, they always wore hijabs, but apparently, the rules had changed in the intervening gap and they were not informed, too, of any such change. It appeared to be more an act to harass them and this perhaps triggered their reactions.
On a positive note, now the same college students have sent a message of harmony to society. The video is sending out signals that the hijab controversy should end as early as possible as the students did not want any clashes or indifferences between each other and wanted harmony on college campuses.
The youth are now teaching the BJP government eternal values of acceptance, harmony, unity in diversity, values that are imbibed in the Indian Constitution.
