North Korea tested a hypersonic missile, its warhead hit the target at a distance of 1,000 kilometers (620 miles), while Kim Jong Un watched.

Photographs posted on the website of Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the ruling Workers’ party, showed Kim wearing a long black leather coat and using binoculars to watch the missile from his mobile viewing platform. as shown in the cover picture of this article.

“The superior manoeuvrability of the hypersonic glide vehicle was more strikingly verified through the final test-fire,” the KCNA report said.

Earlier reports said North Korea early on Tuesday fired one presumably ballistic missile from the interior of the country towards the Sea of Japan. The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of South Korea officially stated the missile flew at least 700 kilometers, and the highest speed was Mach 10 with the highest flight altitude of 60 kilometers.

According to the South Korean military, this projectile is more advanced, but the JCS has so far declined to confirm whether it was a hypersonic missile.

The unveiling of the new missiles seemed to be a message to the Biden administration of North Korea’s growing military prowess, flexing its muscles to world powers, say experts.
