The morning incident occurred in Srinagar’s Rangreth area while the evening shootout happened after militants attacked a police bus near a police camp at Zewan.
The encounter occurred on the outskirts of Srinagar this evening, official sources said, adding that terrorists resorted to heavy firing on the bus which was present near an armed police battalion. The incident took place in the Pantha Chowk area this evening.
Further details are awaited and a search warrant is on.
Earlier in the morning, two militants were killed and the police had reported of it: “Two unidentified terrorists were killed in Srinagar’s Rangreth area. The search is going on in the area,”. The identity and affiliation of the two militants in the morning were not revealed by the police immediately. The security forces had cordoned off the Rangreth area in the morning.
This evening, a fresh series of attacks took place and the situation is highly sensitized in the most militarized zone in the world.
