Rahul condemns police action against protesting doctors in Delhi New Delhi, who were demanding to expedite NEET PG counseling 2021 and condemned the police action against them while protesting at ITO here. “Showering flowers was a PR stunt, in reality, injustice is being done. I am with #Covidwarriors against the atrocities of the Central Government,” Rahul tweeted. Rahul Gandhi’s reaction came after the Delhi police detained several students/doctors who were marching towards the Supreme Court in protest against the delay of the NEET 2021 counseling.
More than 1,000 Resident Doctors here blocked a road leading to ITO in the heart of the capital after their march to the Supreme Court was stopped by Delhi Police on Monday. The doctors had called for the march after their month-long agitation to expedite the counseling of NEET PG 2021 qualifiers was not accepted by the Centre. The doctors from major hospitals run by the Centre and the Delhi government are on strike for the last 11 days. Their demand will add around 50,000 doctors to government hospitals across India. Meanwhile, the agitation has spread countrywide.
Many key government hospitals across India shut down their OPD and emergency services in solidarity. Federation Of Resident Doctors Association of India (FORDA) stated in a release that they were forced to consider this step because the Union Health Ministry has not taken any concrete steps to expedite NEET-PG counseling. The doctors who are protesting have also demanded that the academic fee be restructured, and stipends be paid on time.
