Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Congress president Sonia Gandhi paid tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru.
Jawaharlal Nehru was an Indian anti-colonial nationalist, secular humanist, social democrat, and author who was a central figure in India during the middle third of the 20th century. He was a principal leader of the Indian independence movement in the 1930s and 1940s.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi paid tributes to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 132nd birth anniversary.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, in a warm tribute, the Vice President wrote, “My tributes to the former Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today. He will be always remembered for his contribution to building a modern India.”
Naidu in another tweet said children are the future of the country and must be nurtured with love and care. “The values of honesty, integrity, respecting elders along with the importance of Indian culture and harmonious co-existence with nature must be inculcated in the children from the very beginning,” he said.

On the occasion of Nehru’s birth anniversary, Rahul Gandhi paid floral tributes at his memorial Shanti Van here and also shared a ‘quote’ of Nehru in a tweet that wrote, “Remembering India’s first Prime Minister who greatly valued truth, unity, and peace.” Nehru was the first Prime Minister of the country. His birthday is celebrated as ‘Children’s Day across the country every year on November 14.
