Anil Deshmukh of the NCP arrested by ED in hafta-gate case

After a 12 hour interrogation, former Maharashtra HM Anil Deshmukh of the NCP was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in hafta-gate case.

Deshmukh had appeared for questioning before the ED on Monday, after skipping several summons and the former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on the intervening night of Monday (1 November) and Tuesday (2 November), after more than 12 hours of questioning regarding the hafta-gate case.

This comes in connection with a money laundering case registered against him under Section 19 of PMLA in 100 crore Extortion Racket, which Deshmukh claims is a fake accusation.

Deshmukh in a self-made video, Deshmukh had said on Monday:  “Today I have presented myself before the Enforcement Directorate. Former Mumbai Police Commissioner param Bir Singh made false allegations against me. Where is he today? As per media reports, he has left the country.”

Notably, in the same month last year, he had arrested Arnab Goswami, so a question rises, was this arrest on Anil Deshmukh just an act of revenge?
