A Bharatiya Janata Party delegation met with PM Modi urging him to reopen the Kartarpur Corridor in light of the upcoming Gurpurab.
A delegation of BJP leaders from Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi on Sunday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged him to reopen the Kartarpur Corridor, in view of Gurpurab on November 19.
“Met PM Narendra Modi ji with a delegation of BJP leaders from Punjab, J&K & Delhi and requested him to reopen Kartarpur Corridor & submitted him a memorandum,” BJP spokesperson RP Singh posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
He also tagged a copy of the memorandum along with the tweet. The Kartarpur Corridor was closed in March last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sources said during the meeting, BJP leaders from Punjab, including its state In-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam, also discussed with the Prime Minister, the farmers’ issue and the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
The Kartarpur Corridor is a visa-free border crossing and corridor, connecting the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to the border with India. The crossing allows devotees from India to visit the gurdwara in Kartarpur, 4.7 kilometers from the India–Pakistan border on the Pakistani side without a visa.
