Punjab scraps exam for recruitment of SI, fresh dates to be announced

The Punjab Police have scrapped the exam conducted to fill 560 posts of sub-inspector (SI) which was conducted from 17 August 2021 onwards.

The authorities out of concern opted to halt the examination to maintain the integrity and fairness of the examination process for recruitment. Punjab Police has conducted the online exam for the posts of Sub Inspector in various wings including investigation, district, Armed Police, and intelligence from 17 August 2021 onward.

According to media reports, following reports of cheating and the use of malpractices in the exam, the authority has decided to scrap the examination. The common computer-based tests to fill the 560 posts of Sub-Inspector (SI) in various wings including investigation, district, Armed Police, and intelligence. The agency will announce soon the fresh dates to conduct examinations for the recruitment of Sub Inspector in various wings including investigation, district, Armed Police, and intelligence.

This step was taken on the orders of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. Dates to conduct fresh examinations for the recruitment of SIs will be notified soon. The spokesperson further said that on the basis of complaints regarding cheating and malpractices, the Police have already registered three FIRs including in SAS Nagar, Patiala, and Khanna districts. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by ADGP Parmod Ban, ADGP Special Crimes and Economic Offences Wing Punjab have been set up for the fair and speedy investigation of the cases registered in this regard.
