PM Modi applauds the Uttar Pradesh Yogi government for the implementation of PM SVANidhi Yojana to help the poor.
This scheme is aimed at supporting poor people during the raging COVID-19 pandemic that took thousands of lives and led to oxygen and unavailability of hospital bed crisis in different parts of India including Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking at the New Urban Conclave at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan here on Tuesday, PM Modi said that out of the three cities that have done excellent work in taking care of the poor two are from Uttar Pradesh – Lucknow and Kanpur.
Under this scheme, there have been more than seven lakh street vendors of UP that have received direct benefits, which is a huge achievement.
The PM said that work is being done to connect the street vendors and handcart traders directly with the bank. Street vendors across the country had faced the most trouble during the lockdown during the COVID-19 period. Their business almost came to a close. Starting the business again was no less than a challenge for them.
In such a situation, the PM SVANidhi Yojana of the Central Government became a big support for the street vendors. To restart work after the COVID-19, street vendors were given a loan of up to Rs 10,000 through this scheme, so that they can start their work again.
PM Modi praised the local bodies of Lucknow and Kanpur for giving loans to street vendors. ”UP is at the top in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Yojana and said that in particular, the local bodies of three cities of the country have done a remarkable job in this. It includes two cities of UP, Lucknow, and Kanpur,” said the PM.
He said that Uttar Pradesh tops all the states of the country in the implementation of 41 schemes of the Central Government.
Municipal Commissioner of Lucknow Ajay Dwivedi, took to Twitter and thanked the Prime Minister and CM Yogi for the PM SVANidhi scheme. He said that the street vendors have got huge financial support from this scheme. Lucknow ranks first in the entire country in the implementation of this scheme under the guidance of the Chief Minister, Dwivedi added.
