Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi in a first in-person meeting in  Rome on Friday.

Prime Minister Modi was received by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi as he arrived at the Palazzo Chigi, the seat of the Italian government. Both leaders inspected the guard of honor before progressing ahead for the delegation-level talks.  The two prime ministers on Friday held bilateral talks in their first in-person meeting, during which they talked about taking ahead stronger India-Italian ties.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted on the meeting “Synergising the India-Italy Partnership! “PM @narendramodi was received by the Italian PM Mario Draghi, as he arrived at Palazzo Chigi for their first in-person meeting. “Both leaders inspected the guard of honor before proceeding for delegation-level talks.”

The Prime Minister’s Office in a tweet said: “Prime Ministers @narendramodi and Mario Draghi meet in Rome. The two leaders held extensive talks on diversifying India-Italy ties. @Palazzo_Chigi.” Earlier, Prime Minister Modi arrived in the Italian capital on Friday morning for the 16th G20 Summit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Draghi. Italy is the G20 president.

Mario Draghi OMRI is an Italian economist, banker, academic, and civil servant who is the current Prime Minister of Italy since 13 February 2021.

He pushed for an extraordinary G20 summit on Afghanistan and especially worked towards the G20 group aiding Afghanistan during their time of crisis with the threat of famine taking over the land, and through his persistent efforts, help was provided to Afghanistan.
