A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir Srinagar on October 1, in the district of Shopian on Friday.
The police informed of the encounter say that he was an unidentified person and specific information troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF, and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police conducted a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at village Rakhama, Shopian, in the early morning hours on Friday.
After sealing all the exit points, when security forces were moving towards a particular area in the village, militants hiding there opened fire, a police spokesman said.
Security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter, he said adding a militant was killed so far. The operation was going on the reports last came in, he said adding additional security forces have been deployed in the adjoining areas to prevent any law and order problem.
