Police have detained BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya at the Ogalewadi railway station in Karad of Satara.
Kolhapur: Kolhapur and Satara district police have detained senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya at Ogalewadi railway station in Karad of Satara district early on Monday morning, Somaiya wanted to board the Mahalaxmi express for traveling to Kolhapur.
According to information received here, after he left Mumbai, police followed Mr. Somaiya, while in Kolhapur supporters of Mr. Mushrif became aggressive and decided to protest against him for his allegations against Mr. Mushrif, on this ground additional SP Tirupati Kakade and other police officers requested Mr. Somaiya not to go to Kolhapur, they advised that his going there could give rise to a law and order situation.

However, Mr. Somaiya decided to board the Mahalaxmi express at the Ogalewadi railway station in Karad of Satara district early this morning.
As per the request by police, Mr. Somaiya alighted at Karad at 0445 hours.
After being detained by police, Mr. Somaiya said, “administration and police both are not my enemy, I am alighting here (at Karad) as per police request.”
