Kanhaiya Kumar and independent Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani may join Congress on September 28, while Hardik Patel is still contemplating.
Kanhaiya Kumar, former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union Kanhaiya Kumar and independent Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani may join Congress by the end of this month where reliable sources connected with the Congress gave this information.
Sources say they may join the Congress on September 28, the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
According to sources, Hardik Patel, working president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress, is mediating the talks between these two youth leaders and the Congress leadership. A Congress source said, “If the political situation in Punjab Congress becomes completely normal, then Kanhaiya and Jignesh may join the Congress on September 28.”
Originally from Bihar, Kanhaiya Kumar, a charismatic speaker at JNU University rose to fame during his fiery speeches. At one of the events, he was arrested for his alleged anti-national speech, but on the investigation, there was no evidence that he had made those scripted recorded speeches, which were maliciously edited to falsely frame him and the High Court released him.
Kanhaiya had contested the last Lok Sabha election from Begusarai Lok Sabha seat in Bihar as a CPI candidate against Union Minister Giriraj Singh, however, he lost. Jignesh Mevani belongs to the Dalit community and is an independent MLA from the Vadgam assembly constituency of Gujarat.
