It takes decades to build up a political party, but it can take only a year to destroy it, and here are some methods that destroy.
- Passivity: Passivity is time-lapses that are in actuality are allowing negative elements to work and create mischief. Passivity is fatal to everyone. Citizens watching passivity from a political party presume that that party does not care and eventually walk away or support another party.
An example of this is when parties are campaigning and a particular party does not even send candidates to a state to start the campaign ball rolling, it sends out a message to the public that this party is indifferent. This will slowly bring on the death of that party, and leave questions hanging in the air, “Does this party want to die?” Passivity creates empty spaces for the “enemy” to work viciously.
2. Disunity: Party members, supporters, and volunteers start to fight each other, first silently and then openly on social media. Discussions are important to keep open free expression and are important. Different views are not wrong and are to be encouraged as long as they are not anti-party to destroy the ideology.
However, thrashing out opinions should be within groups and has to reach a creative consensus, but open disputes and fights among the same party members reveal two messages: a. It reveals to the citizens of the nation that this party is fragmented, weak and there is no leader and no one to address their concerns. b. It signifies that there are enemies within the party on a mission to cause division. People watching get frightened of the instability of the party.
3. A Leader Not Defined: If there is no definition of who is the leader, the party supporters will be pulled in different directions and even start fighting each other to promote the leader of their choice. It is like pulling a piece of cloth in different directions and what happens, in the end? The cloth will definitely split into pieces.
It is better to vote and define the leader and all the cribbing people will eventually fall in line and support the designated leader to strengthen the party. The average human needs definitions and leadership. They function better and are calmer when leadership is defined. It is a key principle for a political party, they need a defined leader or everyone is confused.
4. When the Party Is Not Organized: A political party has to be streamlined like a clear flowing river with each person assigned tasks to report to a leader. Once again, people love definition and responsibility and are relieved with this kind of organization as it releases them from the stress of trying to struggle alone. People appreciate meetings with reporting incidents and achieving targets. A party can only be streamlined when it has organized workers both in office, working on the ground, and on social media all in good coordination.
5. When A Party Does Not Allow Freedom to Express Different Views: If a party is insecure, they will immediately start to abuse someone who expresses a different view (not in ideology) from what the mainstream party is holding. While some people in India mock liberty and freedom of expression, they have forgotten that they too would not be able to say a word of their thoughts without this natural gift to humankind.
We are not robots and sometimes we may appreciate something that even a good deed of another party member and this should not call for abuse from party volunteers. In fact, many political leaders from different parties are not true enemies when they meet each other on different occasions.
We need to have a higher level of maturity and respect for humans on the whole, so petty-mindedness is also damaging a party, rooted in fearful insecurity. One should never become dictatorial in the control of other’s expression of thought. A party can actually win all by being more open-minded to others of diverse thinking.
6. When Leaders Are Not Connected To Party Volunteers: Party leaders, recognize that party volunteers are committed to the party for the love of the country. They get nothing in terms of money in the bargain nor are seeking for it and are often involved at the risk of their own lives for they don’t have Z + security. Volunteers need to be cherished and honored.
Leaders need to be humble, engage with them, follow active ones back if possible, answer their pleas, be sensitive and responsive to them, validate them for, in the end, everyone including the nation will reap that amazing golden harvest unitedly.
If political leaders are arrogant and disconnected from party workers, they shut doors on them, without giving and taking, a river cannot flow and the party will become stagnant, so it is of paramount importance that leaders reach out.
7. Too Centralized Control: Leaders in the party have to appoint series of leaders, and plant them all over the states, with plenty of party workers on the ground, give loads of responsibility so that there is freedom, movement, and flow within the party, where youth leaders dare to dream, build and invent being motivated to move the party forward. They should be given authority to help citizens too. This builds the party to a healthy atmosphere and builds up the image of the party powerfully.
The points though are simply elaborated stand the test of time and if party leaders deflect from their main goals to build party and nation, chaos is going to escalate, and sadly, insidiously, they themselves are working to destroy their own party either knowingly or unknowingly, it leaves one wondering.
In the end, it cannot be only about the party, the party has to think beyond itself and save the nation. It is no longer a question of “Oh we will be voted in again.” No, this time, things are different, and honestly, you may never come back if you slumber. The party has to wake up to save the nation, our flag, and symbolic representations of the tiger, the lotus, the peacock, and the Constitution.
