The CBI detained three senior TMC leaders and ministers Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, MLA Madan Mitra and former TMC leader Sobhan Chatterjee in its probe on the Narada sting case.
Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday detained three senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and ministers in its probe on the Narada sting case.
In this case who involved named Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, MLA Madan Mitra and former TMC leader Sobhan Chatterjee.
The TMC leaders taken to the CBI office in the Narada sting operation case.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rushed to the CBI office after the arrest of her ministers and MLAs.
Other TMC leaders also reached the office along with Ms Banerjee.
CBI team just reached the Bankshal court with its chargesheet in the Narada case.
Massive security presence at the CBI office in Nizam Palace here as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and a host of TMC leaders reached the premises following the detention of top ministers Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee and MLA Madan Mitra.
Trinamool Congress MP and advocate Kalyan Banerjee has also reached the CBI office.
Ms Banerjee has challenged the CBI to arrest her as well while calling the detention of her ministers ‘illegal’, according to the TMC lawyer
The chief minister said she will not budge from the CBI office if she is not arrested along with her ministers. The party said they will take the matter up legally.
Earlier in the day Mr. Hakim, Mr. Mukherjee, Mr. Mitra and Mr. Chatterjee detained by the CBI from their homes and taken to the Central agency’s office in the state capital.
Mr. Hakim said that he arrested by the CBI in relation to the Narada sting operation case.
While being taken to the CBI office, Hakim said, “ I have been arrested by the CBI in the Narada case.”
He alleged that he arrested by officer without any prior notice.
Meanwhile, West Bengal assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee said, “The Speaker needs to be informed and his permission needs to be taken before arresting any MLA as per the high court.”
“No such thing done in this case,” he added.
State Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar had earlier this month sanctioned CBI investigations against the four.
