Early morning COVID 19 vaccinations being done at fruit & sabzi mandis of Srinagar for the fruit & vegetable vendors.
This was a welcome move as cases in Kashmir are increasing and the mandis also have a lot of early morning activity and vendors are most vulnerable, thus the vaccination has been clocked appropriately for the situation.
Presently, 46 have died, 30 of them have been reported in Jammu division while 16 were reported in Kashmir taking the overall tally in Jammu and Kashmir to 3,841.
As per the government data, 1,459 of the fresh cases were reported from the Kashmir division and 794 in Jammu in the last 24 hours.
Jammu and Kashmir categorized into red and orange Covid zones and five districts of Kashmir including Srinagar, Shopian, Ganderbal, Kulgam, and Bandipora, besides all the ten districts of Jammu division have been categorized orange.
With half of Kashmir Valley categorized as red and the remaining half along with the complete Jammu division Orange in view of the COVID-19 condition, the Union Territory is not falling in the green category.
“These factors will be monitored and will be the basis for relaxing restriction in future,” said the order issued by UT Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, who is also the chairperson of the State Executive Committee of the UT’s Department of Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.
