Congress launches its own digital channel t while accusing the main media of being “partisan.”live for at least 8 hours every day, and be expanded later.  The launching was done on the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Congress has over years been saying that the mainstream media is biased against the Opposition, while the YouTube channel will allow it to convey its message directly to the public.  The Congress leaders stated that when they speak on mainstream media their mikes are switched off, their voices are cut off when they barely begin speaking, or their events or outreaches to the nation are rarely covered.  Information about the party is also misrepresented often by the media they say and also said, “The government is partisan and our voices are crushed.”

The platform has been created with the aim of conveying the Congress party’s “message directly to the people” and raising issues of importance.”  They feel that the main media has not only suppressed the opposition party’s voices but also misrepresented them.  Main media has hidden the misgovernance of the ruling party BJP party, with many wrongs being swept under the carpet.

Congress has accused the Indian media of being “godi media”, who “don’t show their side of the story”. During many press conferences, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi told the reporters “not to be scared” and that he would support them.

Congress national spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi on Wednesday tweeted a news article about a BJP councilor stating that the corruption in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation was published in The New Indian Express. Singhvi said such incidents were getting “buried” and INC TV was a “welcome step” to convey Congress’s messages “directly to public”.(sic).

Singhvi also tweeted, “Crucial news like this certainly get buried undr hullabaloo & chaos of Godi Media. One comes across these only in print & online mediums in bits n pieces. Decision to setup INC TV is indeed a welcome step & shall help 2 convey our msgs directly to public.” (sic).

At the launch event at Congress headquarters, party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that INC TV will start airing shows from April 24 which marks the National Panchayati Raj Day, and would be live for at least 8 hours every day. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and All India Congress Committee general secretary Mallikarjun Kharge, NSUI president Neeraj Kundan and Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev among others were also present at the launch.

In its first show on the channel, the Congress party telecast a short film on Mahatma Gandhi’s role as a journalist during India’s independence movement. It showed newspaper cutting which elaborated on Gandhi and his writings as a scribe.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party already has a YouTube channel with 3.67 million followers.

It is anticipated that this move will pave pathways to build up the real political battle on the ground to take down the “false grand mirages” created by main Media working in favor of BJP.
