Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted that he has tested positive for Covid-19. He is in self-isolation. This announcement comes a day after he went under isolation following some of his officials testing positive for COVID-19.
He tweeted that all activities of the state government are being conducted normally and urged those who came in contact with him in recent days to get themselves tested. In Hindi, he tweeted, “When the initial symptoms were seen, I got myself tested for COVID and my report came back as positive. I am in self-isolation and fully following the instructions of physicians. I am doing all work virtually.”
It is reported that Yogi Adityanath’s condition is stable and all his vitals are functioning normally.
Some officials, including his OSD Abhishek Kaushik, tested positive for the coronavirus infection.
The chief minister had received the first dose of vaccine against COVID-19 in Lucknow earlier this month.
Uttar Pradesh records the highest ever spike of 18,021 COVID-19 cases recently with 3,474 people discharged during this period. There are 95,980 active cases while 6,18,293 were treated and discharged.,” Additional Chief Secretary of Health Amit Mohan Prasad said.
Lucknow reported the highest number of fresh cases at 5,382, while Allahabad reported 1,856, Varanasi 1,404, Kanpur 1,271, Gorakhpur 602, according to a health bulletin.
Over 80 lakh people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine shots in Uttar Pradesh to date.
So far, 3.71 crore samples have been tested, with 2.18 lakh being tested on Monday, the bulletin said.
Mr. Prasad said 12 new RT-PCR laboratories are being opened in the state to speed up the testing capacity.
Union Labour Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar and his wife tested positive for COVID-19, his private assistant Alok Mathur said.
Meerganj MLA DC Verma and BJP district president Pawan Sharma have also tested positive for the disease.
