Congress party’s district general secretary, journalist killed by “goons” in Varanasi

IndiaCongress party's district general secretary, journalist killed by "goons" in Varanasi

Priyanka Gandhi general secretary of the All India Congress Committee, in charge of Uttar Pradesh said, “The law and order of Uttar Pradesh have now been handed over to goons and antisocial elements. Congress party’s district general secretary and was killed by goons in Varanasi.”

In a tragic incident, Congress journalist Shri N D Tiwari was murdered and a student of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth and State General Secretary of NSUI, Shri Valay Dutt was brutally beaten by the student organization in Varanasi.

Priyanka Gandhi said, “The condition of law and order is so bad that murders are happening every day in the state and the people responsible for law and order are busy in event management.

Immediate action should be taken against the killers of Shri N D Tiwari ji and those who attacked Shri Valay Dutt, ” she said.

National Crime Records Bureau ( NCRB) records the highest crime rates in Uttar Pradesh while the ruling party, BJP rubbishes such claims.

Uttar Pradesh topped the list with 59,445 cases, followed by Maharashtra (35,497) and West Bengal (30,394). The conviction rate in rape-related cases stood at 27.2% even though the rate of filing charge sheets was 85.3% in such cases.

NCRB records that in Uttar Pradesh in just four years, crimes against women increased in Uttar Pradesh by over 66%.  Registered cases of crimes against women have consistently risen nationwide since 2015, according to a 2019 report.

Three factors supposedly have led to the spiraling crimes in Uttar Pradesh:

Empowerment of Goons: There is sudden empowerment of goons under the BJP party, gunshot battles are rampant.  Murders are the highest in Uttar Pradesh because the youth are used by politicians and released on the ground to establish the leaders’ politicized goals of power and control.  Violent youth intimidate opposition party workers, Dalits, other minorities, and women.  Since these youths are authorized and stamped by political leaders., there is very little action taken on them; the bottom line is they know they will get away with it.

Rioting, vandalism, burning women alive, raping, and murders are on the rise, but cops and political leaders close their eyes a lot of times.  Frequently, a woman has to struggle to get her report taken in by a police station especially if she was raped because the mentality of most of the untrained officers is, “it was her fault she was raped.”

Unemployment, poverty and overpopulation, low literacy: This has increased and rose to 21.5% in April 2020 and the number of jobless people in UP rose by 58% in two years.  Most people from Uttar Pradesh need to flock to other states to seek jobs because there is a scarcity of job creations.  Without work, of course, people suffer monetarily, and thus crime increases

Due to unemployment, poverty perpetuates the villages. Most people in Uttar Pradesh have to migrate to other States in India for the search of employment. Uttar Pradesh has seen a population explosion in the past and still continues to house around 15% of the total population of the country.

Literacy: While the literacy statistics are claimed to be rising in Uttar Pradesh, they were still far lower than in the South of India. When the mind is untrained and uneducated, raw crimes are more likely to surface especially in an overpopulated state with a certain moral degenerative mindset in an atmosphere that is not conclusive to moral aspirations when people are taught more to hate than show tolerance and acceptance.

Pure noble knowledge polishes the mind to aspire for greater ideals and noble thoughts. Without finer knowledge gleaned through education, the mind is often stuck in muddy swaps where crime becomes a brother and benefactor to the unschooled.

Religiously Politicized Culture: In a State which has a religiously politicized culture with a very active prevalent caste system, rape and murders occur more easily. As noted in the above incidents, the majority of the rapes and murders were committed by “upper” caste Brahmins on “lower” caste Dalit girls. It seemed a sort of revenge cycle where entitled privileged Brahmins backed by a caste system working in their favor felt they had the right to rape and kill without repercussions. Often girls who rebuked their advances were the poor targets. A lot of these crimes took place quite close to police stations, so they clearly had no fear of the law for they felt they were the law. As we often say, the Jungle Raj is presently running in Uttar Pradesh where the goons rule the roost.

Once again, the upper class feels entitled to attack the minorities and opposition political workers without resistance.  Politicized religion has destroyed concepts of peace in Hinduism and destroyed the structure of Uttar Pradesh degenerating it to the rubble of violence, crime, and intolerance.
