Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned as Chief Minister in Uttarkhand on Tuesday. He met Governor Baby Rani Maurya in Dehradun to submit his resignation.
Uttarakhand BJP vice-president Devendra Bhasin mentioned earlier today that Uttarakhand BJP chief Banshidhar Bhagat had called a meeting of the legislative party at 11 am Wednesday.
Rawat’s close associates had a confidential meeting with him at his residence before proceeding to the Raj Bhawan. The meeting included Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik and state minister Dhan Singh Rawat, who has come out as a frontrunner to succeed him.
This announcement by the chief minister came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP chief JP Nadda, National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh discussed political developments in Uttarakhand.
BJP National General Secretary and state in-charge Dushyant Gautam was part of the discussion. It is stated that the meeting was called after several MLAs questioned Rawat’s style of functioning.

A party member from Uttarakhand said, “Bureaucracy is getting more powerful and voices of elected representatives are unheard.”
On Saturday, the BJP leaders sent former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and Gautam to meet with state leaders and get their input on the Uttarakhand government. The feedback was submitted to the BJP leadership,” according to an insider in the party.
Sources say that the report mentioned that it would be difficult for BJP to win next year’s state assembly polls with Rawat as the face of BJP.
Rawat was made Chief Minister in 2017 after BJP won elections in Uttarakhand.
