IndiaRahul Gandhi shoots a jibe at PM Modi, 'hum do, humare do ki sarkar’ during his speech in Parliament, which sparked up as a popular slogan

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha on speaking on the farm laws said, “This is not just a farmers’ movement but the entire country’s movement. The farmers are just showing the way.”

He said the Prime Minister says that we have given options.  The Congress leader said, “Yes, you have given three options.

– First option – Hunger

– Second option – Unemployment

– Third option – Suicide.”

Without naming anyone, he shot out a jibe at the Center, “Today, four people run this country- hum do, humare do. This government is the government of hum do, humare do.” This caught on as a fiery slogan and the hashtag #HumDoHumareDoKiSarkar became the top international trend for the day on Twitter, with thousands of voices adding to it.

In his speech in Parliament, he went on to say, “Years ago, family planning had a slogan – hum do, humare do. If we talk about the intents of the laws – just like Corona comes in another form, the same slogan has come in another form.”

He elaborated on the three farm laws by saying:

“Content of the first law is- any person can buy any amount of grains, vegetables, fruits, anywhere in the country. You can buy as much as you want to buy. If there is unlimited purchasing in the country, then who will go to the mandis?

The second law is the abolition of the Essential Commodities Act. The second law is to allow unlimited hoarding in the country.

The content of the third law is- when a farmer goes before the biggest industrialist of India and asks for money for his grain, for vegetable, for his fruit, he will not be allowed to go to court.”

He went on to say:

“Who will be at loss?  – The loss will be of the handler, the small businessmen, the millions of people who work in the mandi will suffer.”

The largest business in India is agriculture, it is a business of 40 lakh crore rupees. Farmers benefit from this:

The backbone of this country is farmers, laborers, small traders. The purpose is to break this backbone into pieces and give it to the two friends.

The BJP was also criticized for not standing for the 2-minute silence in respect for the martyred farmers.

The speech was praised even by his critics for being the only political leader to raise up the Ambani/Adani issue in Parliament.  One lawyer wrote, “I’ve often criticized  Rahul Gandhi.  He was absolutely fantastic in Parliament today. 10/10.”

His speech in Parliament

Users on Twitter complimented him for his blazing speech commenting that it was delivered with content, passion, fury, body language, and genuine feelings of concern.

The Congress party says that Gandhi’s speech got the Prime Minister openly defending his “crony capitalists.”

The concerns the Congress and other opposition parties have is that the Narendra Modi government is privatizing not just enterprises, but entire sectors of the economy- telecom, civil aviation, and power to begin with.

By contrast, they argue that China’s economic rise has been due to its strategic use of public enterprises.  It is noteworthy to note that China and India have the highest populations in the world, so their social structure should not pattern the USA.  While Congress is not against privatization, they say that it should not be overpowered by a few.

The capitalist structure in the USA caused inequality, market failure, excess materialism, and erratic economic cycles.  The difference is the American government takes care of the sick, jobless, disabled, and others.  With India’s demography, structure and population, it cannot be the same.
